Guidelines for writing a book review
We write a book review for a blog because we enjoyed a book and want to recommend it to other people to read. Not many of us find a book interesting by its cover. We generally look around to see if we can find some reviews on a certain book before we can grow an interest toward the book.
When writing your book review, do not tell the whole story as this will spoil the book for other readers.
You can write the following in your book review:
- The name of the book and the author.
- A really interesting quotation that caught your eye, one that you read again because you enjoyed it. (Optional)
- Write about the main characters in the book. (Who they are, what they do, where they live)
- Write about how much you loved the book.
- What did you learn from the story, if anything?
- What age group would enjoy reading this book.
- End the Blog with a sentence that makes the reader want to read the book to find out what happened in the story.
- Don’t forget to write your name and age.
- Your book review should not be longer than 10-12 lines.
